Charles Robert “Bob” Reinbold, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his residence.
He was born December 23, 1925, in Shelbyville, the son of Charles E. and Carrie M. (Wills) Reinbold. He married his wife of 63 years, Luella Tovey on December 18, 1949, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Gregory (wife, Diana) Reinbold of Shelbyville; daughter, Kimberly (husband, Gregg) Rothrock of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Richard “Dick” (wife, Delores) Reinbold of Sarasota, Florida; grandsons, Reilly Reinbold and Bryce Rothrock; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ruth Alice Mason and Dorothy Andrews.
Bob graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1944 and Butler University in 1951 with a degree in Communication and Advertising. While attending Butler University he worked summers at Naval Ordinance. Later he attended classes at Purdue University Extension for engineering.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1944 to 1946, in the South Pacific, Philippines and Japan at the end of the war.
Bob formerly worked in communications, designing commercials for WISH radio. He retired in 1983 from Link-Belt, now known as Rexnord.
He was a member of First Christian Church, lifetime member of F&AM Shelby Lodge #28, York Rite, served as the secretary of Kiwanis Club, and was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.
After retirement, Bob mowed the Country Club (Elks) golf course, and then later at The Links golf course. He formed a social network of retired friends, who also mowed the courses.
Bob enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his many friends, but most of all his grandchildren and family.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at the funeral home with the Revs. Nathan Wilson and Bill Horner officiating, they will be assisted by Glenn Hardesty.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
