Charles Willis "Charlie" Kelley

Charles Willis “Charlie” Kelley, 79, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. He was born February 4, 1937, in Greenville, Tennessee, the son of Hubert and Maude (Charlton) Kelley. On December 23, 1977, he married Karen Richey, and she survives. Charlie is also survived by his daughters, Dana James of Indianapolis, and Jami Hart and husband, Dan, of Morristown; son, Charles Street and wife, Brandy, of Woodruff, South Carolina; brothers, Jack Kelley of Ohio, and Bill Kelly and wife, Karlene, of Indianapolis; sisters, Elizabeth Woods and Linda Noe and husband, Hank, both of White Pine, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronny Kelley; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Renee. Charlie graduated from Van Buren High School in Dayton, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division 503. Charlie formerly worked at Poindexter in Indianapolis, as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1994, after 14 years of service. He was a member of Fountaintown Christian Church, where he helped with maintaining the building. Charles enjoyed camping and horses. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Fountaintown Christian Church, 797 W. Brookville Road, in Fountaintown. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, with Pastor Josh Hahn officiating. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
