Clara A. Baker

Clara A. Baker, 98, of Peru, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away March 2, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Peru. Born March 30, 1909 in Shelbyville to Harry and Lora Phillipe Winton. She married Garnett Baker on December 25, 1933 and he preceded her in death in August 1965. Survivors include daughter, Linda (husband, Ken) Cawood of Peru; son, Larry (wife, Gudrun) Baker of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; grandchildren, Christina Bowyer, Teresa Cawood, Dennis Baker, Gina Matthews and Hiedi Dinehart and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, brother, Thomas Omer Winton; sisters, Ruby Eleanor Ray and Cordelia Cundiff. Ms. Baker was a custodian at Shelbyville Jr. High School until her retirement. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Perry Richards officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Wabash-Miami County Hospice. Interment will be in Flat Rock Cemetery, Flat Rock, IN.
