Clarence Edwin Fritz

Clarence Edwin Fritz, 81, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, at his home. Born December 11, 1926, in Shelby County, he was the son of Henry and Bessie (Howery) Fritz. He married Marlene Barnes of April 8, 1957, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Diana (husband, Gerald) Hermesch of Greensburg and Tisha Fritz of Shelbyville; son, Mike (wife, Robin) Fritz of Rushville; sister, Esther Ramer of Shelbyville; brother, Chester Fritz of Shirley; grandchildren, Tiffany (husband, Matthew) Fritz Hamilton, Christopher Hermesch, Laura Hermesch, Cody Fritz, Kevin Fritz, Jackie Fritz and Jordan Fritz; and great-grandchildren, Brookelynne Fritz, Adrian Hamilton, Hunter Fritz and Novalee Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gale Fritz and Herbert "Gene" Fritz. Mr. Fritz was a tool grinder from 1956 to 1988 at General Electric Co., which later became Wellman. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1952-1954. Mr. Fritz graduated from Manilla High School in 1944. He was a member of the American Legion No. 70 and past member of the Eagles Lodge. Mr. Fritz was an avid bowler, participating in many leagues for more than 50 years. He rolled a perfect 300 game, earning him a spot in the record books of the National Bowling Hall of Fame. His favorite past times were hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Linda Frische-Mouri officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
