Clyde R. “Mort” Williams, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
Mort was born September 1, 1935, in Shelbyville, the son of Everett and Julia (Suber) Williams.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Joyce Aulby of Shelbyville; sons, Russell Clyde Williams and Karl Vernon Williams, both of Niagara Falls, NY; step-children, Ronald Aulby of New Castle, Kenneth J. (wife, Susan) Aulby, Tammy (husband, Scott) Gaudin and Anthony Dale Aulby, all of Shelbyville; step-sister, Mabel Lee of Shelby County; granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann, Da-Helle Sue and Shavna Lynn; seven great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mort was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mort was formerly a tree trimmer, salvage operator and truck driver. He returned to Shelbyville from Georgia in 1989.
He enjoyed reading and woodworking.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Interment will be in Snyder Cemetery.
