Cynthia "Cindy" Fox, 69, beloved wife of Denny Fox, passed away quietly at home in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday, July 15, 2017.
Born October 26, 1947, Cindy was the daughter of Floyd and Mary Lou Haehl of Rays Crossing.
Mrs. Fox was a 1965 graduate of Shelbyville High School, and 1969 graduate of Ball State University. She received her Master's Degree from Central Missouri State University in 1985.
Cindy was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.
She did summer internships at the Shelbyville News, student teaching at Triton Central High School, and taught English at New Palestine High school. She also taught English at various other high Schools during her career. Cindy finished her career as an English instructor and academic advisor at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee for 18 years. While teaching at Cardinal Stritch University, Cindy was the recipient of the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr Peacemaker Award.
Her death came one month before the couple's 48th wedding anniversary. Cindy and Denny had also lived in Kansas, Texas, Colorado, Alaska, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
In addition to her husband Cindy also leaves a son, Thomas Fox of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Stacey Bybee and son-in-law, Stephen Bybee, of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, August Fox, Etta Bybee, and Fox Henry Bybee; and brothers, Danny Haehl and wife, LeeAnn, Nathan Haehl and wife, Sherry, and Brian Haehl and wife, Pat.
A celebration of Cindy's life will be held on Saturday , September 30, 2017, at Zion United Church of Christ, 7025 E 100 N, Shelbyville, with friends and family visitation at 10:00 A.M. and services to follow at 11:00 A.M.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
