Daisey Mae Stewart, 74, of Shelbyville passed away May 22, 2009 at her residence. Born October 20, 1934 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Edward and Alta Mae Hudson. She married John Thomas Stewart on September 25, 1953, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1994. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ellen Moore of Shelbyville; sons, Thomas Edward (wife, Kimberly) Stewart of Indianapolis and John Allen (wife, Lori) Stewart of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Michelle, Adam, Amanda, Chelsea, Elyse, Shayna and Anna; great-grandchildren, Breonna, Chandler and Lily; and two sisters. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Moral Township High School in 1952. She was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. Mrs. Stewart was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, her home and her family. Mrs. Stewart was a devoted hospice caregiver to many people. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, 7330 Woodland Drive, Suite 201, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
