Daniel Richard Stephen Sr.

Daniel Richard Stephen, Sr., 71, of London, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. He was born January 23, 1944, in Indianapolis, the son of Warren Richard and Alma J. (Lovins) Stephen. On December 11, 1964, he married his wife of 50 years, Ute Bertelmann, and she survives. Daniel is also survived by his daughters, Karen Mack and husband, Matt, of London, and Peggy Acuna and husband, Carlos, of Fairland; a son, Daniel Stephen Jr. of Fairland; sister, Rita Shepherd Tolsen and husband, Jack, of Stanton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Matthew, Jared, Cassie, Cory, Sara and Alex; a niece; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents. Daniel was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Chrysler in 2000, with 36 years of service. Daniel was a member of American Legion Post No. 70. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his animals. Private services will be observed. Inurnment will be at London Cemetery in Shelby County. Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
