Daniel Wayne Mohney, 67, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence.
He was born March 17, 1952, in Wellington, Kansas, the son of John Wayne and Marjorie Louise (Lowen) Mohney. On May 14, 1977, he married his wife of 41 years, Christy DeHo, and she survives.
In addition to Christy, Daniel is survived by his parents of Shelbyville; sons, Benjamin Mohney, and Joe Mohney and fiance’, Paige Shawler, both of Shelbyville, and Tim Mohney and wife, Amy, of Elkhart; daughters, Stacy Carlyle, and Jennifer Klopotek and husband, Justin, both of Greenwood; sisters, Connie Phares and husband, John, of Springville, and Kathryn Potter and husband, William, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Isaac, Peyton, Ally, Elizabeth, Kmiyah, Edwin and Deaglan; and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Irene Mastellar; and two grandchildren.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1970.
Daniel was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He retired from Knauf Insulation, with 20 years of service.
Daniel enjoyed camping, fishing and astronomy.
He dearly loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
Daniel also leaves behind his granddog, Dexter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
