David Aaron “Dave” McDuffee, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born August 6, 1940, in Indianapolis, the son of Woodrow W. and Lunetta D. (Dean) McDuffee. He married Nancy L. Green on April 27, 1991, and she survives.
Dave is also survived by his sons, Rick McDuffee and significant other, Christine, of Ventura, California and Todd Brandman and wife, Melody, of Fairland; daughters, Melodie Asdell of Indianapolis, Rachel Erdel and husband, Brad, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, Leslie Gambill and husband, Devon, of Englewood, Ohio, Kim Zorman and husband, Dave, of Greencastle and Amy Glackman and husband, Glenn, of Fairland; brothers, Jim McDuffee and wife, Carol, of Interlachen, Florida and Mike McDuffee and wife, Dee, of Carmel; grandchildren, Aaron McDuffee, Brittney McDuffee, Chloe “Muffin” Erdel, Alex Gambill, Alison Gambill, Jessica Miller-Brock and husband, Casey, Chris Stranger, Amanda Stranger, Delaney Zorman, Zane Zorman, Steven Glackman, Sarah Glackman, Ryan Brandman and Jordan Brandman; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth Ann “Sue” Pearson.
Dave graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1958 and Oakland City University in 1995, with a bachelors degree in Human Resources Management.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving from 1958 to 1964 and the Indiana Army National Guard from 1986 to 2000.
Dave was a member of Hope’s Point Baptist Church, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and Trustee.
He formerly worked for Allison’s, Pepsi Cola and Glass Containers.
Dave enjoyed being with his family and attending the grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed watching baseball and the Green Bay Packers.
He was a huge John Wayne and Snoopy fan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hope’s Point Baptist Church, 1703 S. Miller Avenue in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Ed Mohr officiating.
Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
