David Douglas Potter, 73, of Fountaintown passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at his residence.
Born February 10, 1939, in Moline, Illinois, he was the son of Lawrence Wayne and Betty Jo (Boleyn) Potter, Sr. He married Mary Ruth Mathena on December 13, 1969, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, David Ray Potter of Fountaintown and Clifford Wayne (wife, Sara) Potter of Morristown; and a brother, Daniel Potter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence Wayne Potter, Jr, John Wayne Potter and Cecil Boleyn Potter; and a sister, Stella Jo Potter.
Mr. Potter was formerly employed at Farmall in Rock Island, Illinois and Navistar in Indianapolis, retiring after a combined 30 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Potter was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in New Palestine, where he was a deacon and the Sunday school director and the United Auto Workers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor Richard Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
