David Gumm

David Melvin Gumm, 54, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born April 16, 1959, in Marion County, the son of Melvin and Joann (Ott) Gumm. David is survived by his mother of Beech Grove; wife, Helen Hoskins of Shelbyville; daughter, Jessie Louise Gumm and fiance’ Elijah Bontrager of Shelbyville; brother, Tommy Gumm of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Jenny Gumm. David formerly worked for Wonder Bread. He enjoyed fishing and camping. David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. He loved animals and leaves behind his dog, Duke. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
