Delmar Albert Hinners, 89, of Shelbyville, formerly of Marion County, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
He was born June 25, 1924, in Delaware, the son of Frank and Minnie Hinners. Delmar married Kathryn Hastings on August 10, 1946, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2005.
Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Rita (husband, Charlie) Kocher of Shelbyville and Neva Hinners of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews, including Floyd (wife, Jennifer) Hastings of Shelbyville, Nelson (wife, Teresa) Hastings of Martinsville and Bobby Hastings of Milroy.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Everett Hinners, Art Hinners, Herbert Hinners, Gilbert Hinners; sister, Sophie Hinners; and a nephew, Floyd Hinners.
Delmar retired as a machinist at J.D. Adams, after 40 years of service in 1984.
He was a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 404.
Delmar enjoyed square dancing. He also enjoyed traveling and camping, he had been to all of the states in the United States, except Alaska.
He was an animal lover and had several collies and cats.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Masonic and Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Reid Walker officiating.
Private entombment will follow.
