Denise (Gentory) Brown

Denise (Gentory) Brown, 51, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 27, 1966, in Greensburg, the daughter of Paul Bostic and Doris Judy (Simonson) Nickerson. On April 11, 2012, she married Steven M. Brown, and he survives. In addition to Steve, Denise is survived by her father, Paul Bostic of Columbus; mother, Doris Nickerson and husband, John, of Columbus; daughters, Nicole Bowman and husband, Michael, of Scipio and Mikala Chesher and husband, Dustin, of Shelbyville; son, Zachary Gentory and wife, Kayla, of Homer; step-daughters, Stacey M. Brown of Indianapolis and Rebecka Brown of Shelbyville; sister, Gail Laker and husband, Daryl, of Shelbyville; brother, Kevin Bostic of Columbus; grandchildren, Tysin, Cade, Kynlee and Daxtin; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Noda Bostic; maternal grandmother, Delores Balser; and paternal uncle, Wayne Bostic. Denise graduated from North Decatur High School in 1984. She was a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service since 1999. Denise enjoyed her flower gardens, lake life and shopping. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. A Celebration of Denise’s life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
