Dennis M. Jones, 61, of Alda died on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at home. Mr. Jones was born on July 7, 1947, in Corbin, Ky., to Oscar and Verna Jones. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Joyce; three sons, Bradley of Lakeland, Ga., Gabriel of St. Peters, Mo., and Wesley of Russelville, Mo.; and a brother, Hersel Jones. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Jones grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, and received his education at Taft High School. He entered the U.S. Marines in 1965 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He was united in marriage to Joyce Dale on July 5, 1969, in Geneva, Ind. The couple lived in Barstow, Calif., where he worked with the Marine Corps. They also lived in Hamilton, Ohio; Snellville, Ga.; Belleflower, Calif.; and St. Peters, Mo., before moving to Alda. He worked for Diebolds Scientific Atlanta, Boeing and Case New Holland. He was a member of the Alda United Methodist Church and the Optimist Club. In addition to his daughter, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Berchel; and a sister, Joyce. Visitation will be at the Geneva United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 1 to 3 pm. Funeral services will be at 3 pm at the church with the Rev. Mark Dodd. Memorials are suggested to the Alda United Methodist Church.
