Divetta M. Shadley, 96, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at her home. Born October 29, 1913, in Greenwood, Indiana, she was the daughter of Tilson Frame and Ollie (Wood) Shadley. Survivors include her close friend, Josephine Webster of Shelbyville; sister, Betty Greer of St. Petersburg, Florida; three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Maurice Frame Shadley; and sister, Genevie Hord. Miss Shadley retired in 1978 from American Fletcher National Bank and Trust Co., where she was a trust officer in Trust Operations. Prior to that, she was employed at L.S. Ayers, Arsenal Savings and Loan Association and American National Bank. She enlisted in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in February of 1943, and later was a technician third grade in the Women's Army Corps, where she served in the European Theatre of Operations for two years, part of which was in General Eisenhower's headquarters office. Miss Shadley graduated from Greenwood High School. She was a member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and a 75-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 317. Private funeral services will be conducted at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with Rev. John Gable officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 425 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
