Dohn C. Sipe

Dohn C. Sipe, 83, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South. Born March 18, 1929, in Muncie, he was the son of Dean F. and Olethea (Feight) Sipe. He married his wife of 61 years, Donna M. Swanger on December 24, 1950, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Dani Pfaff and D’Lisa Struck, both of Indianapolis; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Naomi Miller Sipe of Louisville; brother, Dale Sipe of Roseville, California; and grandchildren, Katherine Jourdan Struck of Indianapolis, Amelia Sipe and Elliot Sipe, both of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Sipe graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1945 at the age of 16 and received his bachelor degree from Ball State University in 1949. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Sipe retired as Director of Human Resources from KCL in 1991. He served as a member of the board of Shelby County Academic Association and volunteered at Grover Museum. Dohn enjoyed gardening in the summer and weaving beautiful fabrics for his family. A gathering of friends will be from 11 am to 12:30 pm Friday, October 19, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. A Memorial service will be at 12:30 pm Friday at the funeral home, with Jim Cherry officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Grover Museum, 52 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
