Dominique M. Lauziere, 15, of Edinburgh, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at her home.
Born June 21, 1991, in Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of Garry H. and Shannon M. (Gelinas) Lauziere.
Survivors include her parents of Edinburgh; one brother, Brian C. Lauziere of Edinburgh; grandparents, Henry and Florence ?Tootsie? Heffernan and Richard Gelinas, all of Shelbyville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dominique attended Southwestern High School, where she was a member of the class of 2009 and an honor roll student. She also was a point guard for the girls basketball team, played volleyball, ran track, played the clarinet in the band and was an eighth-grade cheerleader.
She was a volunteer at Family Services and Prevention Programs where her mother worked, the school, The Salvation Army and Kids Fest. She played basketball in Europe with the People to People Ambassadorship Program, playing in Amsterdam and London.
Dominique was a member of Town and Country Christian Church, the 4-H Horse and Pony Hoosier Horseman Club, where she received a reserve state champion in English class in 2002 and 2003; and the 4-H Dog Club, receiving a grand champion in 2002.
She loved the outdoors and animals and aspired to play basketball and study veterinary medicine at Purdue.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.; and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Town & Country Christian Church, 2133 S. Tucker Road.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Don Bennett officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
