Donald Dwain "Don" Laird

Donald Dwain "Don" Laird, 60, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Community North Hospital. Born October 25, 1950, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Dwain Laird and Jane Titus. He married Sam J. Downey on September 15, 2006, and she survives. Other survivors include his father and step-mother, Lossie Laird of Shelbyville; daughters, Stephanie (husband, Ryan) Wehrman of Fortville, Natalie (husband, Robert) Pumphrey of Greensburg and Ashley Laird of Indianapolis; step-son, Casey Bocock of Indianapolis; brother, Kent (wife, Cinda) Laird of Shelbyville; sister, Christiane "Christy" Meyer of Greenfield; step-sisters, Tricia (husband, Roger) Walton and Melissa Linville, both of Shelbyville; five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; and grandparents, Harold and Mary Laird and Russell and Lucille Titus. Mr. Laird graduated from Waldron High School in 1968 and received his bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University in 1972. He was a member of Gideon International and Southland Community Church, where he taught Bible classes. Don was a former president of Toastmasters and enjoyed golfing. Visitation will be from 9 am to 12 noon, Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 3718 E. Blue Ridge Road, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 12 noon at the church, with Pastors Robb L. Barlow and Steven Schellin officiating. Interment will be in Manilla Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
