Donald G. "Donnie" Smith, 54, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in Shelbyville. Born May 31, 1951, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late George Allen and Rosemary (Vandagrifft) Smith. Survivors include one son, Matthew A. (wife, Michelle) Smith of Potterville, Mich.; one daughter, Jennessa M. Smith of Columbus, Ind., twin sister, Terry (Connie) Hull of Shelbyville; and one granddaughter, McKenna Lynee Smith. He was preceded in death by one son, Nathan Ryan Smith; one brother, Ronnie Smith; and one sister, Dixie Brown. Mr. Smith had lived in Columbus for 30 years before returning to Shelbyville in 2004. He had been employed by Welding & Therapy Service Inc. in Columbus for 16 years, leaving in July 2004. He also had been employed by Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus. Mr. Smith graduated in 1969 from Shelbyville High School. He attended Columbus Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew A. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donnie Smith Memorial Fund in care of Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
