Donald M. Crosby, Sr., 85, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Morristown Manor.
Born July 7, 1924 in Fairland, he was the son of Robert Donald and Goldie (Jones) Crosby. He married Dorothy A. Randolph of August 19, 1947, and she preceded him in death on August 1, 1996.
Survivors include his sons, Donald M. "Bing" (wife, Mary) Crosby, Jr. of Greenfield and Melvin E. (wife, Linda) Crosby of Greenwood; brothers; Robert (wife, Beverly) Crosby of Vista, California and Gene (wife, Peggy) Crosby of Morristown; sister, Shirley McKee of Greenfield; grandsons, Jason Crosby of Louisville, Kentucky, David Crosby of Broad Ripple, Brett Crosby of Greenwood and Travis (wife, Haylee) Crosby of Lawrence, granddaughter, Emily Crosby of Greenfield; and two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Dylan.
He was also preceded om death by his parents; brother, Joe Crosby and sisters, Colleen Stites and Iona Shoopman.
Mr. Crosby had been a forklift operator for International Harvester and Navistar, retiring in 1986.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, stationed in Germany.
Mr. Crosby graduated from Fairland High School.
He was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church; UAW Local No. 98; bowling leagues in Morristown and Shelbyville; and American Legion Post No. 102 in Morristown.
Mr. Crosby enjoyed woodworking, gardening and sketching.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Morristown United Methodist Church, 221 S. Washington St., Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church, with Rev. Kenneth Wooden officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, with military rites conducted.
