Donald Wayne Cook, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away, Friday, January 17, 2014 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born August 7, 1938, in Portland, Tennessee, the son of William Donald and Odessa Vera (O’Neal) Cook. On September 17, 1960, he married his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo Peelman, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Alan Scott and wife, Karen, and Bobby Joe Cook and wife, Donna, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Sarah Faye Webb and husband, Hal, of Wooster, Ohio, Candy Long of Greenfield, Donna Jo Johnson and husband, Michael, and Sue Cook, both of Shelbyville; sister, Gloria Annetta Caine of Southport; brother, Bobby Leroy Cook of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Adam Scott, Amber Richardson, Dustin Cook, Hal Webb III, Rachel Bierdeman, Megan Goff and Melissa McLane; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald Wayne graduated in 1956 from Manual High School in Indianapolis.
He retired from Ford Motor Co., as a machine operator, in 2009, after 49 ½ years of service.
Donald Wayne was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 84.
He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing and square dancing. He also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
