Donna L. Rice, 79, of Greenfield passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Major Hospital. Born May 13, 1930, in Shelbyville, she was the duaghter of Carl and Laura (Linville) Thomas. She married Robert A. Rice on June 10, 1950, and he survives. Other survivors include her son, Steven C. (wife, Linda) Rice of Fortville; daughter, Patricia L. Rice of Morristown; granddaughter, Afton E. Rice of Dallas, Texas; stepgrandchildren, Jacqueline Webster, Daniel Webster and Joshua Myles. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Ann Rice; and brother, Robert Thoms. Mrs. Rice was a farm wife and previously worked as a secretary for Wortman Oil Co. and Fountaintown Elementary School. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1948 and attended Earlham College. Mrs. Rice was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church and Mu-Beta Book Club. She was a very devoted wife and mother and enjoyed taking care of the family above everything else. She also enjoyed farm life and raising the German Shepherd pups that her husband would bring home for her to love and spoil. Mrs. Rice wouldn't miss a Colts, Pacer or Purdue game. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Kenneth Wooden and Bill Farmer officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
