Doris Jane Owens

Doris Jane Owens, 87, of Jefferson, Georgia passed away Friday, November 16, 2007. Born in Johnson County, Indiana to Murrell and Gladys Moore McCollum. She married Herbert Owens, and he survives. She is survived by sister; Nola (husband, John) Isley of Hoschton, Georgia; niece and son-in-law; Elizabeth (husband, Bruce) Quiggle; several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews in Indiana. She was a member of Winterhaven Christian Church in Winterhaven, Florida. Mrs. Owens was a minister's wife, a partner in church building ministry, a pianist and a poet. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Highway Southeast in Winder, Ga. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with visitation from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Interment will be in Second Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery in Franklin.
