Doris M. (Liebert) Sheehan, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born May 21, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Louis H. and Jennie (Westrick) Liebert. She married George Louis Sheehan on August 5, 1961, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2012.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Maureen Sheehan and Eileen Sheehan, both of Shelbyville, Terri Strouse and husband, Rich, of Indianapolis, and Carol Pogoni and husband, Sam, of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Michael George Sheehan of Ashland, Wisconsin; brother, Louis “Bud” Liebert, Jr. of Louisville; sister, Jo Ann Nevins and husband, Richard, of Libertyville, Illinois; granddaughter, Molly Sheehan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Doris graduated from Ursuline Academy in Louisville in 1947.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, St. Anne’s Altar Society and St. Joe Social Club.
Doris was a wife and homemaker. She was formerly a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph Elementary School.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and watching musicals and old movies.
Doris also enjoyed singing and participated in The Holy Name Band and Choral Club (now, The Louisville Chorus).
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Repair Fund, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana or the donor’s choice of charity.
