Doris Winterrowd, 88, of Shelbyville, my wife and partner for 66 years, 8 months and 25 days, passed on at 5:21 a.m. this morning, October 31, 2013.
She was born January 19, 1925, in Shelby County, the daughter of Leander Reed and Nancy Emiline (Price) McGrew.
Doris is survived by her husband, Thomas S. Winterrowd of Shelbyville; sons, John Michael Winterrowd of Thorntown, Ohio and Thomas Aaron Winterrowd of Flat Rock; daughter, Doris Ann Mattiaccy of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Louise Mullen of Fairland; grandchildren, Jesse, Joshua, Angie and Cindy; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and five sisters.
Doris graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1943.
She was a member of the West Street United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 25 years and was a member of the Circle Three Club.
Doris was formerly the President of the Baptist Credit Union in DeMoines, Iowa.
She was a founder and the former treasurer of the Society of Young Magicians Indianapolis Assembly.
We, my sons, Mike and Aaron, and my daughter, Ann and myself, plan to have a party celebrating her life. It will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dr. Jack E. Weigle officiating.
Interment will be at Flat Rock Cemetery in Flat Rock.
Memorial contributions may be made to Society of Young Magicians, in care of the funeral home.
