Dorothy A. Bond, 93, of Shelbyville died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born July 18, 1914, in Knox County, she was the daughter of Hugh and Nellie (Wells) Threlkeld. She married Robin L. Bond on October 12, 1940, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1988.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph D. Bond and Timothy W. (wife, Sharon) Bond, both of Greenfield, David H. Bond of Lebanon and Victor F. (wife, Kathy) Bond of Indianapolis; daughter, Emily Ann (husband, Ned) Harness of New Port Richey, Florida; sister, Emily H. Threlkeld of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Bondlived most of her life in Fairland.
She had been a music teacher in Rush and Shelby county schools for more than 30 years, retiring in the early 1970's.
Mrs. Bond graduated from Bruceville High School in 1932, and Indiana University School of Music in 1936.
She was a member of Fairland United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for many years and one of the oldest living members.
Mrs. Bond loved the piano and gave private lessons.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Steve Whicker officiating.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
