Dorothy Ellen Simpson, 86, of Morristown, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.
She was born June 1, 1930, in Freeport, the daughter of William and Erna (Balting) Goble. On November 25, 1950, she married her devoted husband of 66 years, Marvin Glenn Simpson, and he survives.
Dorothy is the beloved mother of Ken Simpson and wife, Nancy, of Morristown, Kay Vezina and Karla Simpson, both of Indianapolis and the loving grandmother of Rachael Vezina and Natalie Vezina. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Alice Lenning and husband, Walt, of Morristown; sister-in-law, Liza Goble of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Otis Goble.
Dorothy graduated from Morristown High School in 1948.
She was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church, where she served on the church board, as treasurer for many years.
Dorothy was formerly a teller at the Morristown bank for approximately 30 years, and a bookkeeper at Fountaintown Gas Company for ten years.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting and gardening. Dorothy was a great cook and loved to bake.
Dorothy loved her family and adored her granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Morristown United Methodist Church, 221 S. Washington Street, in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Reverends David Simpson, Tommy Simpson and Jeri Barrett Thomas officiating.
Interment will be at Hanover Cemetery in Shelby County.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
