Dorothy Jane Marshall, 92, of Boggstown, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at her residence.
She was born October 17, 1924 in Mitchell, the daughter of Sherman and Naomi (Fry) Belcher. In 1947, she married Austin Parker, and he preceded her in death in 1961. She married Aubrey Marshall in 1964, and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sonja Thomas and husband, Joe, of Shelbyville, and Ingrid Welsh and husband, Richard, of Oxford, North Carolina; son, Rex Parker and wife, Sherri, of Newburgh; sisters, Evalou Pate of Orleans and Mary Davis of Lakeland, Florida; brothers, Don Belcher and wife, Marilyn, of Seymour, Charles Belcher and Darrell Belcher, both of Mitchell; grandchildren, Zachary Welsh, Heather Ulmer, Mike Parker, Jon Parker, Eric Parker, Ryan Alexander, Nathan Thomas, Brittany Thomas and Stephanie Thomas; great-grandchildren, Megan, Elizabeth, Colin, Morgan, Abby, Jaxson, Presley, Gabby, Ian, Callie, Parker, Hannah, Indy, Mason and McKinley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; brother, Elmer “Buddy” Belcher; and a great-granddaughter, Sophie Alexander.
Dorothy enjoyed crafts and sewing. She collected, created and refurbished dolls.
She enjoyed watching old western movies and television shows.
Her family was her main focus in life and she loved the time she spent with them.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
