Dorothy L. McDaniel

Dorothy L. McDaniel, 96, of North Vernon passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon. Born January 26, 1911, in Bridgeport, IL, she was the daughter of John and Jessie (Jackson) Macy. She married Elzie McDaniel and he preceded her in death in 1976. Survivors include her son, Robert S. (wife, Vickie) McDaniel of North Vernon; daughter-in-law, Patricia McDaniel of Kissimmee, Fla; grandchildren, Bob McDaniel Jr. and Eric Armstrong, both of North Vernon, Ronnie McDaniel and Jimmy (wife, Lori Shroder) McDaniel, both of Kissimmee, and Carri (husband, John) Hudson of Maryland; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald McDaniel; sisters, Larel Rem, Ruby Edwards, Lois Edwards and Hazel Rogers; and brother Raymond Macy. Mrs, McDaniel lived most of her life in Shelby County, moving to North Vernon in 1988. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of Queensville Community Church in North Vernon. Visitation wil be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Freeman Family Funeral Home, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Ramey officiating. Interment will be in Little Blue River Friends Cemetery in Rush County.
