Dorothy Phares

Dorothy Phares, 91, of Indianapolis passed away Friday, May 2, 2008, at Community Hospital South Campus, Indianapolis. Born October 26, 1916, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Charles Theobald and Katie (Sanders) Theobald Thompson. She married Lloyd Phares, and he preceded her in death o February 19, 1986. Survivors include her sons, Richard Tony Halberstadt of Danville and Kent A. (wife, Terri) Halberstadt of Greenwood; daughter Alecia (husband, Lee) Jurras of Hagerman, N.M.; stepsons, Larry (wife, Marla) Phares of Shelbyville and John (wife, Ann Phares of Hickory, N.C.; stepdaughters, Doris (husband, Jack) Kingeberger of Crown Point and Janice Marilyn Mollenkopf of Shelbyville; several great-great-grandchildren; and several step great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Robert Phares. Mrs. Phares retired in the early 1970s from General Electric Co. as a payroll clerk. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1934. Mrs. Phares was a member of Hope's Point Baptist Church and former member of the Order of Eastern Star. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Central Indiana Chapter, 9135 N. Meridian St., Suite B4, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
