E. Genevieve (Tyner) Cory, 93, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.
She was born December 8, 1921 on the family farm in Northern Shelby County, where she spent her entire life. On November 3, 1945, she married Forrest B. “Frosty” Cory, and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2003.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Wallace “Wally” Cory and partner, Lou Ann Miller, of Morristown; grandchildren, Lindsay Cory of Gwynneville, Chance Cory and his girlfriend, Leah Solenberg, of Franklin, and Cody Cory and wife, Elyse, of Morristown; one great-grandson, Camden Cory of Morristown; nephew, Lynn Tyner and wife, Joann; great-nephew, Dean Tyner and wife, Gina; great-great-nephew, Dean Tyner II; and step-great-great-nieces, Sara Potter and husband, Cliff, Miranda Wood and Alyssa Wood.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Joseph M. Tyner.
Genevieve graduated from Morristown High School in 1939 and Indiana Business College.
She was a formerly a member of Freeport United Methodist Church and the Rebakah Lodge in Morristown.
Genevieve worked as an executive secretary for a number of years, retiring in 1984, from Hancock Regional Hospital as an accounting secretary.
She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and researching genealogy.
Genevieve and her husband, Frosty, visited and researched every court house in Indiana, and she wrote a book about the history of them.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Bill Farmer officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Morristown Boys and Girls Club, in care of the funeral home.
