Edith M. Cresswell, 86, of Lafayette and a former Boggstown resident, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Regency Place in Lafayette.
Born May 3, 1925, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Paul Shrader and Goldie F. (Brown) Guy. She married James L. Cresswell on July 4, 1943, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1999.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (husband, Bob Qualls) Cresswell of Louisville, Colo., and Pamela Hasty of Lafayette; adopted daughter, Kelli (husband, Joel) Milligan of Lafayette; sister, Bobbie (husband, Ed) Shipp of Fountaintown; sisters-in-law, Jenny Purcell and Kay Guy, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Cody (wife, Marlana) Qualls, Tucker (wife, Lacie) Qualls, Charity (husband, Shane) Walkup and Nathan Mills; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Michaela, Kaylee, Rachel and one on the way; and great-great-grandson, Luke.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Cletus Guy, who helped raise her; sister, Edna M. Stoughton; and brother, James Guy.
Mrs. Cresswell graduated from Boggstown High School in 1943 and had resided in Lafayette for the past 60 years.
She was formerly the ward clerk at Wabash Valley Hospital for many years, retiring in 1979.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
