Edna Fern Kaster

Edna Fern Kaster, 101, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville. Born April 30, 1909 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Alonzo and Gladys (Woods) Kaster. Survivors include nephew, Stephen D. (wife, Nancy) Slaton of Versailles, Kentucky; nieces, Marsha (husband, Gene) Kinsinger and Millie Martin, both of Richmond; great-nephews, Jeffrey G. (wife, Brenda) Slaton of Rushville; Brent (wife, Shelly) Slaton and Hunter (wife, Heather) Slaton, both of Lufkin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Kaster; and sisters, Evelyn Slaton and Louise Roemer. Miss Kaster was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. She was a former inspector at T.R.W. Cinch Electronics, retiring in 1975 after 28 years of service. Miss Kaster graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1927. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Shelby County Arts and Craft Club. Miss Kaster enjoyed cooking, quilting and sewing. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Forest Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Services are entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
