Edna M. “Peanut” Sturgill, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.
She was born August 10, 1944, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Fred McDaniel and Edna (Dixon) Yeley. On October 15, 1961, she married her husband of 57 years, Charles E. Sturgill, and he survives.
In addition to Charles, Peanut is survived by her mother of Shelbyville; sons, Eddie Sturgill and wife, Rita, of Shelbyville, and Tim Sturgill and wife, Julia, of Flat Rock; sister, June Drew of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Alisha Sturgill, Blake Sturgill, Clare Sturgill and Todd Sturgill; and great-granddaughter, Dalyce Sturgill.
She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Sharon McDaniel.
Peanut graduated from Shelbyville High School.
She was formerly a bookkeeper for Becom’s and the Shelbyville Elks Lodge, retiring in 2002.
Peanut was a homemaker and enjoyed baking delicious cakes for her family. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.
She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, November 23, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Sharon Adams officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
