Edwin "Eddie" Eberhart

Edwin D. "Eddie" Eberhart, 79, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at his residence. Born December 3, 1931, in Shelby County, he was the son of Everett and Audrey (Branson) Eberhart. He married Phyllis Crafton on August 14, 1953, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Mark (wife, LeeAnn) Eberhart of Shelbyville; daughter, Judy Eberhart of Shelbyville; sister, Anna McClain of Shelbyville; grandson, Christopher Eberhart of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Edwina Eberhart of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Albert Eberhart, Bernard Eberhart and Stanley Eberhart. Mr. Eberhart was a lifelong resident of Shelby County and enjoyed woodworking and his favorite activity was selling corn with the Blue River Lions Club. He was the meter reader for REMC for 34 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Eberhart was a 50 year member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Farmers Masonic Lodge No. 147 and Flat Rock Order of Eastern Star No. 473. He was past president of the Blue River Lions Club and the Mt. Auburn Alumni Association, and a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with Masonic rites at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bryan Trotter officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central, Indiana, 2626 South 17th St., Columbus, Indiana 47201
