Eileen C. Smith, 65, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Major Hospital.
Born Feb. 4, 1941, in Canton, Ill., she was the daughter of Fred and Catherine (Davis) Hardy. She married Ronald E. Smith on April 8, 1961, and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother of Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters, Lisa (husband, Jack) Parker of Chillicothe, Ill., and Julie (husband, Jerry) Haggerty of Marietta, Ill.; one brother, Jim Hardy of Dunfermine, Ill.; three sisters, Babe Girard of Texas, Margaret Todd of Bloomington, Ill., and Judy Sweetin of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Vaughn, Jennifer Kem, Johnathon Kem, Jeremy Haggerty, Jolene Haggerty, Amy Smith, Ariel Smith, Natalie Dugan, Michelle Dugan and Joe Dugan; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one son, Ronald L. "Ron" Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had formerly been employed at Benners Grocery; as a cook at Spoon River Valley Grade School in London Mills, Ill.; and at Harpers Gas Station in Canton, Ill.
She graduated in 1959 from Canton High School and ran her class Web site on Classmates.com.
Mrs. Smith loved playing bingo and bunko and doing craft work, crocheting afghans and pineapple doilies. She also loved writing letters and sending cards at the holidays.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
