Ellanora Alleen Bridges

Ellanora Alleen Bridges, 84, of Morristown died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Major Hospital. Born December 25, 1922, in Ripley County, she was the daughter of William F. and Bertha (Klusman Koester. She married James E. Bridges on March 29, 1945, and he preceded her in death on September 14, 2002. Survivors include her daughter, Karen B. (husband, Arthur) Simmons of Philadelphia, Tenn.; sons Steve L. Bridges of Morristown, David L. (wife, Alice) Bridges of New Castle; Jon M. Bridges of Fairland; sister-in-law, Betty Koester of Batesville; brother-in-law, Paul(wife, Buena) Bridges of Manchester, Tenn,; 10 grandchildren; and mine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas L. Bridges, and brothers, Clarence Koester, Melvin Koester and Orville Robert Koester. Mrs. Bridges was a homemaker and had formerly been employed at Heritage House as a registered nurse. She was a nurse in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II, where she met her husband. Mrs. Bridges graduated from Batesville High School on May 28, 1940 and from Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Lutheran church in Knoxville, Tenn., and various local clubs and organizations. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Kenneth Wooden officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
