Elmer V. Jewell, 79, of Morristown passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
Born September 2, 1928, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, he was the son of John and Ida (Scott) Jewell. He married Geraldine Moore on August 14, 1951, and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, John Jewell and Stephen Jewell, both of Indianapolis; and sister, Vinrigina Perry of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruie Surface, Helen Hicks and Adeline Suttle; and brothers, John R. Jewell and William C. Jewell.
Mr. Jewell had lived in Shelby County since 1948.
He retired from Chrysler Electrical Plant in Indianapolis on February 29, 1988, after more than 30 years of service.
Mr. Jewell was a member of Morristown Church of the Nazarene, and had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morristown Church of the Nazarene, 554 E. U.S. Highway 52, Morristown, with the Rev. Dr. H.L. Robbins officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
