Emerson E. “Bud” Schutt, 85, of Manilla, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born September 1, 1930, in Cumberland, the son of Louie “Red” and Edna (Raab) Schutt. On June 30, 1950, he married his wife of 65 years, Joyce Dunlap, and she survives.
Bud is also survived by his sons, Howard “Buddy” Schutt and Charles “Butch” Schutt and wife, Roxanne, both of Manilla; a daughter, April Wells of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Emma Lou Shoffner of Hodginsville, Kentucky; brother, Bill Schutt and wife, Judy, of Shelby County; grandchildren, Chris and wife, Erica, Cody and fiancee’, Lindsey Rasche, Kristina and fiance’, Jose Barrera, Amanda and Crystal and wife, Megan Parks; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Tyree; sisters, Laberta Arnold, Lillian Busby and Rose Crain; brother, Earl Wayne Schutt; and a grandson, Justin Schutt.
Bud attended Shelbyville Community Church.
He was a blacksmith and welder, owning Schutt’s Blacksmith and Garage for 47 years, retiring in 2010.
Bud was a former member of Manilla Volunteer Fire Department.
He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Bud liked to watch Indiana University basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
