Ernest K. "Ernie" Wallien, 70, of Shelbyville, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at his home.
Born June 1, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was the son of Alfred and Sylvia (Artman) Wallien. He married Roberta Gottlieb on July 31, 1959, and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, Courtenay Wallien of San Diego, Calif., Kevin Wallien of Zionsville, Cheryl (Wallien) Pathman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Eric Wallien of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Devin, Hannah, Stefani, Nicholas, Carlye and Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wallien had been a resident of Shelbyville since 1962.
He and his wife are founders of Roberta?s and co-owners of Pure Essence Inc. He also was a founder of the former Super Vel Cartridge plant near Waldron.
Mr. Wallien graduated from the University of Michigan in 1957, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and finance.
He was a successful entrepreneur and enjoyed teaching his many skills to his children and family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
