Esther L. Hill

Esther L. Hill, 105, of Fairland, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born Sept. 27, 1900, in Dearborn County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Enders) Hill. Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews including Betty McCain and Jean Eckstein, both of Fairland, with whom she resided; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Julius Hill, Harris Hill and Carl Hill; two sisters, Mary Newman and Martha Neumann; and cousin Bill Enders, who was raised with her. Ms. Hill had a lifetime vocation as a family caregiver. She was a founding member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1560 N. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Howard Whitecotton officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
