Esther L. Voss, 80, of Shelbyville, formerly of Indianapolis and Milan, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
Born August 30, 1933, in Milan, Indiana, she was the daughter of Walter F. and Mabel L. (Butt) Voss.
Survivors include her sisters, Ellie Brinkman of Lawrenceburg and Jinky (husband, Ray) Craft of Shelbyville; brother, Paul (wife, Sheryl) Voss of Batesville; sister-in-law, Emily Voss of Milan; nieces and nephews, Scott, Bill, Susan, Mark, Sue Ellen, Amy, Doug, Brian, David, Anne Marie and Brad.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Hank Voss in 2006.
Ms. Voss graduated from Milan High School in 1951 and received her bachelors of science and masters degree from Indiana University.
She taught school at Greendale in Lawrenceburg and Lawrence Township in Lawrence, retiring in 1994 after 40 years of service.
Ms. Voss was a member of Milan First Baptist Church, Tri Kappa, Indiana University Women’s Club, DKG Education Sorority and Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed golfing, sports and especially the sporting events of her nieces and nephews.
After retiring, Ms. Voss devoted much of her time to caring for her great-nephew, Cole.
A gathering of friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Milan First Baptist Church, 112 S. Main St. in Milan.
A memorial services will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with Harris Long officiating.
