Esther Justus Smith, 89, of Morristown passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Morristown Manor in Morristown. Born August 25, 1918 in Van Buren Township, Shelby County to Jesse and Minnie (Boles) Justus who preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Gretchen (husband, Andy) Hasler of Morristown; son, Rob Smith of New Palestine; grandchildren, Carrie (husband, Lincoln) Thompson of Morristown; Amy Miller and Revecca Miller of New Palestine; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Blankenship, Hannah, Lilli and Bella Thompson, all of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Wilson and Fannie I. Scott; brother, Robert (Bob) and Jesse (Gene) Justus. She was a member of the Morristown United Methodist church and Morristown American Legion Auxiliary. She retired as a Jr. Accountant from American States Insurance Company in 1980. She previously volunteered at Hancock Memorial Hospital and CICOA. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown, IN. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Memorial contributions may be made to Morristown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 388, Morristown, IN 46161.
