Etta "Faye" Stith

Etta "Faye" Stith, 86, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Major Hospital. Born December 22, 1923, in Columbus, Indiana, she was the daughter of Dean H. and Mary Marquarite (Hollenbeck) Walker. She married Richard Vernon Stith on June 4, 1943, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1989. Survivors include her children, Mary Louise (husband, Michael) Gregory and Michael Dean Stith, both of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Walker of Columbus; nephews, Gary Walker and Brian Walker; and niece, Linda Walker. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Clarence Walker and Dean Walker. Mrs. Stith was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville. She and her husband formerly owned and operated the Spudnut Coffee and Donut Shop for more than 20 years. She also was the dietary supervisor at Major Hospital, retiring in 1988. Mrs. Stith was a member of First Christian Church, Sigma Beta Sorority Alpha Iota Chapter, Naamah Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Shelby County Craft Club. She taught and enjoyed painting. She also made arts and crafts all her life and sold them at festivals, including the Gift and Hobby Show, where she had a booth for more than 20 years. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 noon Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby County Bear Paw Quilters, in care of Grover Museum, 52 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
