Eulene ?Butch? Davis Hawes, 86, of Indianapolis died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Ashford Place in Shelbyville.
She, along with her twin brother, was born at home in Muses Mills, Kentucky on July 29, 1923. Her parents were Nelson and Hannah (Meadows) Davis. She was previously married to Herbert A. Hawes, who died January 2009.
She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for many years. Her current membership is at Garfield Christian Church.
She enjoyed her home and friends. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, Andy, Jamie, Patrick, Lauren and Sam.
Her family will remember her never complaining, happy attitude, as well as all of her stories about growing up with eleven children in rural Kentucky and experiences during the war. She had numerous jobs including; RCA, US Rubber Co., Sears and C.H. Ellis, and retirement from General Motors in 1991.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (husband, Ken) Lau, Beth (husband, Tom) Bridge and Wanda (husband, Pat) Riggs; five grandchildren, Andy, Lauren, Jamie, Patrick and Sam; brother, Howard Davis; sister, Gertrude Gulley and a special sister-in-law Mae Davis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Bacon officiating.
Interment will be in Acton Cemetery.
