Evelyn Clark Smith, 97, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Heritage House Convalescent Center.
Born October 17, 1913, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of William and Aurilla (Harrell) Ziegler. She married Paul E. Clark on February 17, 1937, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 1964. She married Harold Eugene Smith on February 10, 1971, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2001.
Survivors include sons, Robert "Bob" (wife, Judy) Clark and John (wife, Kathy) Clark, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kristi (husband, Phillip)Comstock and T.J. (wife, Kim) Clark both of Shelbyville, Darcy (husband, Neal) Muldoon of Edinburgh, and Chad Clark of Shelbyville; and great-grandchildren, Tori Muldoon, Noah Muldoon, Makenna Clark, Ashlyn Clark and Marissa Comstock.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Josephine, Florence and Frances.
Mrs. Smith was a housewife and had worked at JC Penney in her younger years.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1931.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church for 84 years.
Evelyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and working in her flowers. She also enjoyed collecting porcelain shoes and birds and playing cards with her Blues Chasers Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 4449 S. Smithland Road.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with Pastor Bryan Trotter officiating.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery.
