Evelyn "Eileen" Nigh, 95, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born January 21, 1917, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Anna Elizabeth (Parsons) Bush. She married Kuhn Nigh on June 4, 1939, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1973.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (husband, James) Plunkett of Shelbyville; sons, Phillip Dale (wife, Karen) Nigh, Sr. of Shelbyville, Lloyd H. (wife, Betty) Nigh of St. Paul and Harlan L. (wife, Bernice) Nigh of Manilla; grandchildren, Dale, Joey, Shellie, Penny, Steve, Melody, Shannon and Sarah; five step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernie Bush; sisters, Carrie Tillson, Minnie Thompson, Blanche Brown, Roberta Mohr, Josephine Padrick, Agusta Bush and Bertha Bush; and a grandson, Billy.
Mrs. Nigh was a lifelong Shelby County resident, a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Moral Township.
She was a member of Fairland United Methodist Church.
Eileen enjoyed reading, playing card games, Yahtzee and working puzzles with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Susan Davis officiating.
