Evelyn Mae Wells Miller Craig, 99, of Boggstown, a lifelong Shelby County resident, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born January 21, 1918, in Shelby County, the daughter of Joseph and Ethel (Browning) Wells. In November of 1936, she married Harold Miller, and he preceded her in death in January of 1954. On January 23, 1955, she married Carroll R. Craig, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2007.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janet Robinson of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Debbie Ryhal and husband, Greg, Chris Robinson and fiancée, Kelly White, Jonathan Robinson and wife, Laura, and Heath Robinson and wife, Rebecca; 11 great-grandchildren; 17 and one on the way great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Dwain Robinson; sisters, Mary Kathryn McNew and Marjorie Shaner; brothers, Roscoe Wells, Virgil Wells and Forest Wells; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a very involved member of Boggstown Presbyterian Church.
She was also a member of Ladies Aid at the church, as well as, Junior Coterie and a bridge club.
Evelyn loved to entertain and enjoyed being a homemaker.
She enjoyed spending time taking care of her flowers, gardening and traveling.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Chuck Jordan officiating.
Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.
