Evelyn Mae Wicker, 95, of Shelbyville, formerly of St. Paul, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Waldron Health and Rehab in Waldron.
She was born August 30. 1918, in Rush County, the daughter of Roscoe and Mina (Pope) Jones. She married Kenmore Wicker on February 27, 1943, and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1987.
Evelyn is survived by her nephews, Larry (wife, Sharon) Bridges of Needham and Robert M. (wife, Mary Ann) Bridges of Rushville; thirteen great-nieces and nephews; and thirteen great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Virginia Bridges.
Evelyn graduated from Milroy High School and Indiana Business College.
She was a member of Moscow Christian Church for over 75 years, she taught Sunday school for over 40 years and was the church organist for over 60 years.
Evelyn retired as secretary of Major T. Jester’s in 1983, after 25 years of service.
She was formerly a Rush County 4-H leader and precinct committee person.
Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 noon, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Moscow Christian Church, 9098 S. River Road in Moscow.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday at the church, with Mark Wesner officiating.
Interment will be at Moscow Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
